HELSINKI, Finland (AP) -- Nokia Corp. said Tuesday it had bought the U.S.-based multimedia company Twango Inc. in order to help mobile phone users better organize wireless downloads and ease connections between handsets and desktop computers.

The value of the deal was not announced.

Twango, a privately owned company founded by former Microsoft employees, is based in Redmond, Wash. It provides a platform for organizing, sharing, and republishing media such as photos, videos and audio clips.

''The Twango acquisition is a concrete step towards our Internet services vision of providing seamless access to information, entertainment, and social networks,'' said Anssi Vanjoki, general manager of the multimedia division for Nokia, which is the world's largest mobile phone maker.
