NEW YORK (AP) -- A man arrested on charges of planning a sadomasochistic tryst with what he thought was a Colorado woman and her 11-year-old daughter was ordered held without bail Tuesday.
Paul Hinkley, 69, used his credit card to reserve a hotel room for four nights near Newark (N.J.) Liberty International Airport where he planned to have sex with the pair, prosecutors said. In the car he drove to the airport, federal agents found rope, an enema bottle, condoms and Viagra, they said.
In fact, Hinkley had been interacting on the Internet from January through July with an undercover officer in the Canon City (Colo.) Police Department, prosecutors said in a statement.
Hinkley was arrested at the airport Monday on charges of crossing state lines intending to engage in sexual activities with an underage girl, using the Internet to attempt to entice a minor to engage in sexual activities and traveling in interstate commerce for sex with a minor. If convicted of all charges, he faces 30 years to life in prison.
Hinkley told FBI agents after his arrest he intended to have sex with the mother and daughter, that he believed the girl was 11 and that he planned to tie her up with rope, Assistant U.S. Attorney David A. O'Neil said.
In court papers, authorities said Hinkley had told the fictitious Colorado mother that ''this is a glorious threesome I am looking forward to.''
At a bail hearing in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, O'Neil argued that Hinkley was a danger to the community and a risk to flee.
A lawyer representing Hinkley told the judge that his client, who founded an engineering consulting business, had no previous arrest record and deserved bail.
''He has never before done anything like this,'' attorney Philip L. Weinstein said.
He said Hinkley told him he once worked for the U.S. Coast Guard and had three adult children. .6122945转载请声明出处4正4方4翻4译4网.7537348 |
